"Obedient to its operator, a master-slave robot in a Salt Lake City warehouse draws back its paddle in tandem with engineer Jon Price, whose motions are measured by sensors and relayed via computer. SARCOS, Greek for 'flesh,' matches most human moves in speed and smoothness but depends on a human brain for direction. 'We do things so easily,' says Price. 'We don't realize what is involved in getting a robot to do the same thing."
